Project description:
Jackie Kay's Manchester Lines is a story about seven characters in search of themselves, who all connect through a Lost Property Office, where they meet the Keeper of Lost Things (and souls). The lines referred to in the production are the city's arterial tram and train networks and also the strands that connect our day-to-day encounters, whether through chance or design.
The site was the empty fifth floor of a large, new office block in Manchester city centre. Audience members arrived in groups at the Lost & Found reception and then made their way along an 'underground' corridor which led to the Lost Property Office. There, they could look at and listen to the hundreds of items on the shelves, each with its own tale to tell, before taking a seat.
