Kate Burnett
She has designed extensively for regional, national and touring theatre companies; also large scale schools and community performance projects for orchestras, opera companies and art galleries.
Kate was project director and curator for the Society of British Theatre Designers (SBTD) of the Collaborators: UK Design for Performance national exhibition project that started in Nottingham in January 2007. A selection of this work represented the UK at the Prague Quadrennial (PQ) in June, toured to Newcastle upon Tyne and Inverness and was re-curated as the first exhibition in the Theatre Collections galleries in the Victoria & Albert Museum from November 2007 – August 2008.
She has co-organised three previous exhibitions for the SBTD with Peter Ruthven Hall; 2D>3D (awarded the Golden Triga at PQ’03), Time+Space and MakeSpace! ( awarded a Gold Medal at PQ’95). Kate was Hon. Secretary to the SBTD from 2003 – 2007. She was Chair of the OISTAT (Organisation of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians) History & Theory Commission from 2007 – 2011, co-convening meetings and conferences in Prague, Helsinki, Seoul and Amsterdam. She is a co-founder of the new OISTAT Theatre Timeline Working Group.
For WSD2013, Kate was part of the Publications and Language of Design teams with particular responsibility for Catalogue(s) and documentation.
