Project description:
This is a nonlinear history of the Brazilian goalkeeper Moacir Barbosa. His fame is mainly associated with the defeat of the Brazilian team in the decisive match of the World Cup 1950 against Uruguay in the Maracaná stadium. Defined as a "samba-tragedy in three acts", which amalgamates football, passions and whims of the Greek and Brazilian gods, the work of Maracanazo drama turns around the memorable football match, when the Brazilian team lost the championship against the Uruguayan team. In the character of a "musical tragicomedy," the play serves to weave two worlds: the Greek and Brazilian, with different times, places and stories. Tragicomedy in which the gods believe they are human and humans that their are gods.
