Project description:
HARTEKOP is a contemporary play about a family that lives in poverty with there disabled son. The father - an ex military- tries to find answers about sense and no sense of war and the scars that he left in his family during his absence.
The piece has played on a abandoned military location in a huge hangar. The hangar is separated in two zones, one part is for reception of the public and had a bar function. It is decorated with old furniture of the family who is put out of their home, that will become clear in the play later on. The other part was for seatings and the scene of 310m2 was completely put under water. The water reflects the roof trusses, clouds, scenery and characters. The big doors of the hangar are opened and closed during the play. An empty bath tube and a existing midden are outside in the center of the scene. Water gives very poetic and dramatic images but is also a struggle for the characters and reflects there struggle for life and unattainable dreams…
