Lighting for Opera and Dance at Large Scale- In the UK with Nick Moran

Professional Lighting designers from the UK Association of Lighting Designers talked about the challenges and delights of lighting Opera and Ballet in our major Opera Houses. Some of the most spectacular stage lighting happens in the major opera houses of the world. Opera and Ballet very often present the audience with a visual spectacle of great beauty and depth, and the lighting designer plays a key role in creating these images that can linger long in the memory. Given the particular pressures of working in this environment it is perhaps unsurprising that few Lighting Designers are commissioned to light full scale opera without 20 years experience.

In this session Lighting Designers with an international reputation talked about the highs and lows of their experiences, and shared their thoughts on the best ways for Lighting Designers with aspirations to work at this scale might prepare themselves.

This event was open to all.
