Re-inventing costume through sculpture with Robert Allsopp

Robert Allsopp demonstrated how he extends the body through costume by bringing together traditional sculpting and fabrication with new technologies and materials.

The high quality of his work has been seen on theatre and opera stages across the world and on film and TV. His presentation / demonstration included recent productions with award winning designers such as EikoIshioka and Nicky Gillibrand.

This event was open to all.

Robert Allsopp

Robert Allsopp: Originally trained in Theatre Design, Robert now runs his own business in London making specialist costumes and props for film, theatre and television. He has provided principal costumes for the film Dredd 3D and his other film work has featured in the Ridley Scott films Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Robin Hood and Prometheus. Other clients include the BBC, the Royal Opera House, Royal Ballet, and several overseas theatre companies including The Metropolian Opera in New York and Tokyo Opera. Recent projects include making costumes for the 2012 Olympic ceremonies. Robert is a regular visiting lecturer at the London College of Fashion.
