Max Humphries is a puppeteer and theatre maker. His work takes inspiration from the Bunraku puppet school of Japan, the automata of 18th & 19th century Europe and the drama theory of Edward Gordon Craig. Max is known for his experimental mechanisms and novel puppet forms, over the three days of his residency he answered questions, demonstrated mechanisms and creating a new puppet from scratch.
This event was open to all and free to attend.
Work includes: Royal Opera House, Royal Ballet, Bristol Old Vic, Lyric Hammersmith, Little Angel, Green Ginger, Pickled Image, Headlong, Little Bulb Theatre, Nightlight, Figurentheater Nordland and the National Theatre, among others
