Theatre Parallax Toronto – KATA

This was a surrealist physical performance piece inspired by Antonin Artaud.

The title is derived from a Japanese term that describes the learning of patterns and behaviours. This idea of learning is explored in the piece through the construction of the expectation of male and masculinity during the trials and tribulations of war. The piece explores the design and limitation of the male body through Anne Bogart’s Viewpoint’s techniques, with an emphasis on topography, kinesthetic response and repetition.

This performance was restricted for age 18+ ; KATA contains mature subject matter, including depictions of violence and sexually suggestive material.

This performance  travelled to World Stage Design 2013 from Canada.

Price: £6
